In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart. Mohandas Gandhi

Prayer is a universal way that people communicate with the divine. Since ancient times prayer has been a universal method to interact with the divine. With the blessings of Brother Matthew I am going to begin a series of "Daily Prayer" posts. I am sending this as a way of introduction.

Prayer is an offering of communication or praise to a deity or deities. A variety of body postures may be assumed, often with specific meaning associated with them: Prayers may be recited from memory, read from a book of prayers, or composed spontaneously as they are prayed. Prayer may be done privately and individually, or it may be done in the presence of fellow believers. Some outward acts that sometimes accompany prayer are: ringing a bell; burning incense; lighting a candle or facing a specific direction. http://www.essene.com/rituals_ceremonies/index_definitions.htm

For me personally prayer largely began at school. As child I was brought up in a loose religious environment. My mother was largely a new age hippy. Being a child of the 60's she explored mostly Christian and Sufi practices. She became a Lay priest in the "Holy Order of Mans", which was an early new age/occult attempt at Gnosticism. For me this gave me from an early age the importance of meditation. Sadly I was not really given any spiritual structure from my parents in any form.

Worship or prayer, therefore, is not to be performed with the lips, but with the heart. And the prayers of those whose tongues are nectared but whose hearts are full of poison are never heard. He, therefore, who would pray to God, must cleanse his heart. http://www.gandhi-manibhavan.org/gandhiphilosophy/philosophy_religion_prayerashram.htm

Growing up in rural England, I was educated in "Church of England" schools. We said the Lord's Prayer at least 3 times a week. Schools also had mandatory church service attendances such as "harvest festivals." Again though there was no real structure or teaching in guiding us in our religious or spiritual outlooks. Sunday schools were really devoid of any real content, and also "Religious Education "classes. The comedian Eddie Izzard I think summed up my religious education best. Eddie states in one of his routines that the Church of England is so loose. A typical service often just consists of the Vicar getting an issue of vogue, reading a section and producing a teaching from this. This is good in that it appeals to the common man, but as I have found it is really like eating apple pie without the apples….

So prayer to me became little more than the stereotypical "asking God for stuff." I felt that was what prayer was for years. As I get older I see Prayer is immensely important. There is defiantly a difference between "talking to God" and "talking with God." I no longer feel that prayer is just "to get stuff." Now I see that prayer is a profound way to communicate with the divine. Prayer is a way to open my self to the divine and communicate who I am at this moment, where I am at this moment.

The most powerful form of prayer, and the one which can virtually gain all things and which is the worthiest work of all, is that which flows from a free mind. The freer the mind is, the more powerful and worthy, the more useful, praiseworthy and perfect the prayer and the work become. A free mind can achieve all things. But what is a free mind?
A free mind is one which is untroubled and unfettered by anything, which has not bound its best part to any particular manner of being or devotion and which does not seek its own interest in anything but is always immersed _ in God 's most precious will, having gone out of what is its own. There is no work which men and women can perform, however small, which does not draw from this its power and its strength.
We should pray with such intensity that we want all the members of our body and all its faculties, eyes, ears, mouth, heart and all our senses to turn to this end; and we should not cease in this until we feel that we are close to being united with him who is present to us and to whom we are praying: God.

--Meister Eckhart

I add this simple probably naïve introduction to this series of daily prayers. I would like to invite anyone comment, post their own prayers, or prayers that have inspired them, meditations and other similar things are also welcome. Although I shall mainly but not exclusively be concentrating initially on early Christian and Gnostic prayers, I invite sharing of prayers and devotion etc. from all traditions.

To end, let's end where I began as a child, with the Sermon on the Mount:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heavenGive us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory. for ever and ever.

Amen

The Cup ( a fable)

I set about on the path to become a cup. All around me were others also wanting to be cups. I tried to help them, but most went their own way. I waited patiently and the divine made me into a cup, I was joyous in God.

My friends grew impatient and made themselves into cups. I shook my head in disaproval, but like Christ's seeds, my words fell on barren ground.

I prayed and contemplated the divine. I stayed true to all that is nothing. Again my friends grew impatient.

I was annointed with wine, I became dyed in Christ.
My friends were impatient and could not wait..so they stole what they felt as wine, and dyed themselves. They ran around intoxicated with their own wine.

I could not call them friends any longer, nor could I help others by pointing to them as people to help others become cups. So I left my friends.

Klippoth/Qlipploth

from the hebrew literally means "shells" (klippa is the singular)
Klippoth are incomplete pseudo sefirot...."wanna be" kabbalisitic spheres.

WG Gray expressed Klippoth best for me I think

You have a tree of life....this can be seen as the body of God..so to speak

Now as above so below...or God is like man....he created us in his image etc. SO like man god must expell things..."he" must excrete. So Klippoth is the excretum..the waste...the feces of the divine!

We can thus think of Klippoth as the excrement of God..and much like a spiritual compost heap. Think about a compost heap. A compost heap is a place where the dead and semi dead are left to rot. If you know what guava is, ie bat excretum klippoth is like that.

Traditionally Klippoth is seen as the realm of demons. Often this place is called the tree of death or treee of night/darkness. This is the tree that satanists and "left hand practioners" adhere to. Of course Klippoth is also the realm of demons, and the Underworld. Or more accuratlyu the underworld is a part of klippoth. What is the underwolrd? This is hades, hel, anwynn, avalon, summerlands etc. the realm of the dead. Where "faries" live. In tradition Lillith is said to reside at the lowest emanation of klippoth. If you have ever been to the underworld you may know more of what I am discussing.

What does this mean to us as Gnostics? This is much like the Demi urge itself. In fact Shtn, satan, shit...are not a million miles away. Thus satan/the demi urge/klippoth are things we must excrete, remove. This is much liek the idea that archons can represent actual beings that the demi urge has sent to help him and to control mankind....AND/OR archons and klippoth /satan/the demi urge can bve seen as the self. The I, the ego.

Often pictured "below" the tree of life (and as merely an upside down tree joined at kether), a perhaps more accurate portrayal would be side by side....joined at da'ath..as da'ath can be experienced as life or death..but thats another story.
Klippoth (Hebrew, Jewish). Shells: used in the Kabbalah in several senses;
(1) evil spirits, demons;
(2) the shells of dead human beings, not the physical body, but the remnant of the personality after the spirit has departed;
(3) the Elementaries of some authors.

Uncle AL "Magick is the science and art of causing change to occur inconformity to will"

"Name withdrawn to keep anonimty"wrote:True magic occurs when one liberates oneself from the illusionsfabricated by the archons of this world. Gnosticism is the pursuitof the knowlegde leading to this liberation. This is recorded in theGospel of Phillip and elsewhere."

Magic is of the demi urge. no matter how you cut it. If we examine Kabbalah we can see some clear themes. The word Sin for instance in Judaism means to turn away from. Much like the oldman's face of Chokmah is turned away from Binah. We see "good"turning away from "evil." Magic(k) is thus "evil" in of the self. The root of magick kabbalisticlly is based upon hod or the 8th emeanation. The scintilation of the intellect. The superflous illusion of maya...the SELF.

Magick is centerd around the SELF!
"Victory is mine..." the other base of the kabblalistic pillar.

For further evidence let us examine the conventional placement oftarot upon the tree of life. This is the one familiar to most.

Now this was actuaLLY created by the Golden dawn as a blind. As a wayof testing new initiates. Its actually rubbish. Yet it is what mostseekers use! It is rubbish because it only places the cards due to numerical values.

Example Fool card one goes on path 11 as 10+1=11 Devil goes on path 23 as 13+10=23 Oh dear! we see we have all been fooled! oh no! But wait no...this conventional way does work. But how does it work? If we examine the cards on the tree we see a clear pattern. We see that it is not about transcendance but reinforcement. Its about bringing the divine into the manifest, malkuth. How is this transcendance? its not. This is Gnosis of the ego, the self, of all matter. This is Gnosis of the demi urge. Yet many Gnostics and none Gnostics see this as a way toGnosis. It is the way to the demi urge.

"The counterfeit spirit or ego is our personal manifestation of thedemiurge (lead archon). Often when an individual is drawn to trueliberation, the ego perverts this into a pursuit of power ----soinstead of a transcendent search for liberation from this world, the individual becomes interested in power over this world, thinking thatcontrol is linked to freedom. We become our own demiurge. This error is manifested in many primal societies and also in morecomplicated traditions such as ceremonial magic and elaborate groupsthat don the name of gnosticism like in lesser realms of the OTO. Control and manipulation doesn't lead to liberation; only knowledge and ascendence leads to liberation and expansion. Spells and magic are but distractions along the path, similar to blind devotion. Now there is such a thing as theurgy. Martinists and Kabbalists practice this as a path to expansion. It employs many of the sametechniques as ceremonial magic, but its aim is union with the divine rather than earthly power. Many feel that original masonry would also fall into this class, but it's become degraded, although there are still a few esoteric-based masonic groups that embraced the alchemical and gnostic pursuits of theurgy."

The problem with theurgy is when it becomes the outer action. Theurgy should occur within. When we are literalists we assume that theurgy is somthing that manifests outwards...this is then servingthe demi urge ..reinforcing malkuth. Transcendance is not reinforcing what is already there, its going beyond it. This is why kabbalah is pretty much flawed, as it of the self/manifest reality.

Magic(k) is doing things on our own terms...much like adam and eve in eden..grasping for fruit. They were unready, yet they partook. Much like a child in a candy store scream "I wanna..." there were 2(3) trees in eden....

The Price of Oil

The Price of Oil

Voices on the radio tell us that we’re going to war those brave men and women in uniform they want to know what they’re fighting for.
The generals want to hear the end game the allies won’t approve the plan but the oil men in the white house they just don’t give a damn.
It’s all about the price of oil it’s all about the price of oil don’t give me no shit about blood, sweat, tears and toil it’s all about the price of oil
Now I ain’t no fan of Saddam Hussein oh, please don’t get me wrong if it’s freeing the Iraqi people you’re after then why have we waited so long.
Why didn’t we sort this out last time was he less evil than he is now the stock market holds the answer to why him, why here, why now.
Saddam killed his own people just like general Pinochet and once upon a time both these evil men were supported by the U.S.A.
And whisper it, even Bin Laden once drank from America’s cup just like that election down in Florida this shit doesn’t all add up.
It’s all about the price of oil ‘cause it’s all about the price of oil don’t give me no shit about blood, sweat, tears and toil it’s all about the price of oil.  Music and lyrics by Billy Bragg, 2002.Produced by Billy Bragg and Simon Edwards

All things ARE sex

All things ARE sex. The lingam and the yoni.

Love is to GIVE...as God GIVES....if we are to LOVEGod we must give of ourselves completely.
"Light and Darkness, life and death, right and left, are brothers of one another. They are inseparable. Because of this neither are the good good, nor evil evil, nor is life life, nor death death. For this reason each one will dissolve into its earliest origin. But those who are exalted above the world are indissoluble, eternal."---the Gospel of Philip
Upon realizing that he must give to the Christ in him self...and thus elevate God...not the self in himself John the Baptist said"He must increase and I must decrease"
Here we see....John was saying.....God must increase. And the self must be lost in God.Thus we see we either embrace God and the Christ or we pretend we do.An egg does not hatch and become a chicken no matter how much it screams and says "I am a chicken"
"I do not pray because it changes God or God's mind, I pray because it changes me" --CS Lewis

"All life is the progression towards, and the recession from, one phrase- I Love you."--F Scot Fitzgerald

LOVE. When we make love we give of ourselves completely.

"To love means to commit oneself without guarantee, to give oneself completely in the hope that our love will produce love in the loved person."---Eric Fromm

LOVE unconditional LOVE. The Love God has to us.

Many see Gnosticism as dualistic religion. Well yes it is. In truth of course no Gnosticism is not dualism. If Gnosticism was dualism there would be no mention of transcendence. How can you transcend if you are still stuck within duality.

So we have the transcendent God...and the demiurge. But the Demi Urge is OF the transcendent one. So no duality exists.

All people are dual in their natures. I am male. My body is predominantly male. Due to Polarity therefore my "spirit" or higher self is predominantly female energy.

Through Gnosis we join those two dual natures and transcend either male or female and become both and yet neither.

Thomas Aquinas stated that there are ONLY 3 movements in the universe....
straight line.....masculine..the penis...the rod..the sword..air and fire
circular...vagina...womb...cup..shield...water and earth
and
obtuse.....a unification of male and female...changing direction mid-flow...serpentine....the kabalistic lightning flash..the chord...quintessence...aether..the Christ.....
SO we see the idea of the alchemical unity.....
A "chemical wedding" (the Rosicrucian term)...a marriage of opposites to form a new whole.....

Now of course not everyone has this polarity, some of us are special.

The word Virgin means (in some traditions) "one who is complete unto themselves."

As we see clearly in Astrology Virgos are independent beings.

A Virgin then is one who is complete...on ALL levels of being. Christ and MM we're Virgins in this sense as was Mary mother of Yeshua.

Thuis marriage is not a marriage of 2 halves but of 4 quarters!

So Who is MM and Sophia? and why is sex so important?

Sex in its sacred aspect is to give as God gives. Hieros Gamus, divine UNION. Only through divine union do we transcend duality and opposits. Only through Gnosis do we transcend.

The end is the beginning is the end.

All that was, is and will be. Oroborous.

-- He who knows both knowledge and ignorance together, crosses death through ignorance and attains immortality through knowledge.

Levi Stubbs' tears

With the money from her accident
She bought herself a mobile home
So at least she could get some enjoyment
Out of being alone
No one could say that she was left up on the shelf
It's you and me against the World kid she mumbled to herself

When the world falls apart some things stay in place
Levi Stubbs' tears run down his face

She ran away from home with her mother's best coat
She was married before she was even entitled to vote
And her husband was one of those blokes
The sort that only laughs at his own jokes
The sort that war takes away
And when there wasn't a war he left her anyway

Norman Whitfield and Barratt Strong
Are here to make everything right that's wrong
Holland and Holland and Lamont Dozier too
Are here to make it all okay with you
One dark night he came home from the sea
And put a hole in her body where no hole should be
It hurt her more to see him walking out the door
And though they stitched her back together
they left her heart in pieces on the floor

When the world falls apart some things stay in place
She takes off the Four Tops tape and puts it back in its case
When the world falls apart some things stay in place
Levi Stubbs' tears...
